Starbucks To Offer Medical Insurance To Parents Of China Employees

Starbucks Coffee Co will offer critical-illness insurance to the parents of its eligible full-time employees in China. The plan, to be implemented at all the company's operated stores across Mainland China, could benefiting over 10,000 parents of its Chinese employees, which the company refers to as "partners."

The action establishes a new precedent for the social role and responsibility of a major company in China, which is Starbucks' second-largest and fastest-growing market.

The "Starbucks China Parent Care Program" was announced by Howard Schultz, Executive Chairman of Starbucks Coffee Company, and Belinda Wong, CEO of Starbucks China, at a Starbucks Partner Family Forum in Beijing; the latest in a series of family forums the company has held with its Chinese partners and their families since 2012.
