Hong Kong, China, November 9, 2017 /ChinaNewswire.com/ - Rutronik offers a superb portfolio of electronics for the industrial sector, built and refined through decades of experience as a leading distributor. The portfolio is now a key driver of the IIoT, particularly in China, where a huge effort is underway to move the country's technology base to the high end.

Rutronik Elektronische Bauelemente GmbH (Rutronik) offers leading-edge solutions for all types of industrial systems, including the advanced levels of industrial automation now in demand for the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and Industry 4.0. Interest in this vision of industrial ultra-efficiency is particularly acute in China, where the "Made in China 2025" initiative aims to drive the accelerated development of 10 key industrial sectors, including next-generation information technology (IT); new-energy vehicles; electrical power-supply equipment; and automated machine tools and robotics.

Wireless for the IIoT
Above all, the formation of the IIoT demands highly integrated low-power wireless solutions. Available from Rutronik, the RS9113 n-Link module family is based on Redpine Signals' RS9113 high-integration, ultra-low-power, single spatial stream, dual-band IEEE 802.11n + Bluetooth 4.0 + ZigBee SoC, which provides an extremely versatile solution for embedded wireless applications.

Together, these RS9113-based chips and modules provide a set of convergence solutions for integration into mobile, and HMI (human-machine interface) and M2M (machine-to-machine) communication devices.

HMI and M2M interfaces for the IIoT
The formation of the IIoT also demands sophisticated HMI and M2M imaging and display solutions. For these applications, Rutronik offers advanced optical sensors, including the VEML6040 RGB color sensor and the VCNL4200 proximity and ambient-light sensor, both from Vishay Intertechnology.

The VEML6040 color sensor senses RGB and white light and integrates photodiodes, amplifiers, and analog and digital circuitry into a single chip. VEML6040 achieves an ambient-light spectral sensitivity that is extremely close to real human-eye response.

The VCNL4200 proximity and ambient light sensor integrates a high-sensitivity, long-distance proximity sensor (PS), an ambient light sensor (ALS), and 940nm IRED into one small package. It incorporates photodiodes, amplifiers, and analog-to-digital conversion circuits in a single chip. The 16-bit high-resolution ALS offers excellent sensing capabilities, whether for a dark or high-transparency lens design.

Electric motors – the controller challenge
Next-generation high-efficiency electric motors will be a key enabling technology for the IIoT, particularly in China, where the development of electric "new-energy" vehicles is an urgent national priority. The demand is for lower power consumption and motors designed and engineered to the highest standards. The range of high-quality industrial motor controllers available through Rutronik includes the ARM-based HVC4223F embedded motor controller, from Micronas.

A member of the HAL#174; 15xy family of Hall-effect switches from Micronas, the HVC 4223F flex servo-drive is powered by a 32-bit ARM#174; Cortex#174;-M3 CPU core and supports complex motor-control algorithms, such as Space Vector Modulation (SVM), for permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSM), in addition to six-step commutation with sensor feedback or sensorless control, as well as various stepper configurations.

Preventing fire and catastrophic failure
Throughout the industrial sector, technology and materials must operate without fault and with high precision, especially when they are in continuous operation. Rutronik's industrial portfolio aims specifically to combat single points of system failure and costly downtime.

The LSP10 thermally protected Surge Protection Device (SPD), for example, from Littelfuse, is specially designed to provide outdoor and commercial LED lighting fixtures with transient overvoltage protection. In particular, it incorporates Littelfuse varistor technology for thermal protection and has a built-in thermal disconnect function that provides additional protection against catastrophic failure and hazardous fire, even under the extreme circumstances of varistor end-of-life or sustained overvoltage conditions.

Likewise the JS series of detector switches, from CK Components, reinforces system safety. These devices are in a low-profile sub-miniature slide-switch design, for use in telecommunications products, computer peripherals, and more.

As a representative member of the JS series, the JS202011AQN slide switch, in a double-pole, double-throw (DPDT) configuration, with a PC-pin termination style, has a maximum current rating of 0.3A at 6VDC. As a detector switch designed for industrial environments, it is able to operate over a wide temperature range of -40°C–85°C.
